So a little bit about us then…

AIESEC is an international internship targeting, student-led non-profit organisation with no political or religious binding.  AIESEC focuses on providing a platform for youth leadership development—AIESEC offers young people the opportunity to be global citizens, to change the world, and to get experience and skills that matter today. In addition to going abroad to do an internship, you can also gain invaluable skills in national and local levels! AIESEC consists of teams that make sure that we have fun sending, as well as receiving international interns. There are already 86.000 AIESECers in 113 countries and territories. Therefore, our motto is: “Empowering young people for Peace and the Fulfillment of Humankind's Potential”—what a great way for you to show yourself the potential you’ve got and just join us!

AIESEC was formed officially in 1948, but the first ideas about a student-led organisation were born already in the 1930’s. The first members of AIESEC wanted to give out information about various exchange programmes and schools that specialize in business and economics. The mission was “ to expand the understanding of a nation by expanding the understanding of the individuals, changing the world one person at a time. ” In the 1950’s the organization had already expanded to the United States and to Finland. AIESEC started its activities in Jyväskylä in 1969.

Do you know what Martti Ahtisaari, Bill Clinton, JFK, Sir Mick Jagger and Kofi Annan have in common? They have all been AIESECers! Fun fact, eh?

AIESEC Jyväskylä has 20 active members and we have an office in Mattilanniemi in MaD255. If you want to learn more about us, exchange programmes and our current projects or want to join our team, contact us on our Facebook page AIESEC Jyväskylä or drop by our office. Just come in, we won’t bite you!
